Let Me Tell You A Story

Born and raised in the South Hill area of Washington State, S.L. lived in and out of a dream-like state. She never had a problem differentiating fantasy from reality. Still, she much preferred the books she read to the real world. Her biggest dreams were being whisked into the magical, fantastical, and new.

S.L. grew up as a self-taught writer. She knew that she would become a writer when she picked up her first book. JK Rowling, Anne Bishop, and Stephen King shaped her mind, personality, and style as she devoured every book she could get her hands on. These three authors hold a special place in her heart and have taught her a lot through their incredible words.

As a lovely introvert, S.L. likes to leave her house only for work, school, and shopping. She will willingly go to any local coffee shop, but as soon as she gets her fix, it's time to return home, where she finds companionship in her own personal zoo. Being a young woman who has yet to have children, she makes up for it by bringing home every animal that looks her way. She has three feisty Dobermans, a cat, and three other pups she doesn't claim but loves on anyway.

S.L. is Bipolar. Because of this, and the way she struggled with mental health as a teenager, she writes these illnesses and disorders into her magical worlds. She never got representation as a child, so she swore that tomorrow's teenagers would see themselves in her characters. She believes in mental health representation, diversity, LGBTQIA+ representation, and setting healthy examples for young adults in romance.

To a woman who rarely lives in the real world, S.L.'s characters are real to her. They each hold a piece of her soul, and because of this, she cares deeply for them. If you happen to get her started on a rant about her book babies, be careful. It may take ice cream or another cup of coffee to make her stop.
